Not Alone is a case study. It was a UX giffgaff competition, and the brief is:
”Unlock the power of 5G for giffgaff community.”
the goal:
NOT ALONE is an ambitious platform aimed at audiences of nearly every age.
The goal: give protection, security and love to lonely people who are facing difficult moments during the quarantine or isolation period. It is an entire ecosystem of features that facilitate one-on-one interactions not only by video or normal call but exploiting VR technology and Holograms. It is all possible thanks to the 5G which is the main object of the brief.
define the problem:
Identify a problem in a community in the UK and use 5G and giffgaff to solve it. The first questions are:
What is the problem? — Psychological impact of quarantine (COVID19 related problem)
How do I know it is a real problem? — Research Methods & Scientific documents
How do I know I will fix it? — Through usability evaluation
STORY:
NOT ALONE was born during the period of lockdown. Reason why I decided to solve a very touching and present problem in that moment.
In my works, Design for Impact is the basis. Solving problems fro people with real needs is another major objective of this project.
It is visible as a technological brief has been transformed in a psychological and human-centred case study.
WHO It Is FOR:
Not Alone includes people of every age, as long as they are able to use a VR or Hologram device. It has been thought in a world where 5G is already well established and users are much more confident using 5G related devices.
It includes a range of different people and professionals:
People living alone or quarantined and their families & friends
GP and general practitioner
Psychologist and various therapist
Mindfulness/Yoga/Gym coaches
A fully-immersive experience
Not Alone comprehend various kind of activities. Not all of them involve VR or Hologram technologies. In fact, it is possible to exploit the Hologram or VR full-immersive experience:
With calls, where users can almost touch or share the same ambience along with their relatives and friends or connect directly with doctors and professionals
Engaging in any kind of activities like Yoga, Mindfulness and Training
Reviving their own photo gallery and video in Virtual Reality
